The Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) organized an interaction programme on 6th February 2023 among nine UK businesses and twelve Nepali businesses active in renewable energy. The UK businesses were visiting Nepal as part of the International Brokerage visit to Nepal organized by Energy Catalyst from the UK (energycatalyst.ukri.org). Representatives from Energy Catalyst, Innovate UK, NREP and the British Embassy in Kathmandu also took part in the programme.
The UK businesses ranged from companies working in biotechnology, innovative coatings for more efficient power lines, energy access, solar PV, heat exchanger manufacturing, hydrogen-based solutions, battery storage and waste-to-energy. The Nepali participants included representatives from two renewable energy associations and companies working in solar rooftops, solar mini-grids, solar water pumping, waste management, waste to energy, electric mobility and electrical appliances.
During the interaction programme, in addition to short introductory presentations from Energy Catalyst and NREP, each company representative presented a short introduction of their respective companies. This was followed by a question-and-answer session and networking among the participating companies. The participating companies were very eager to know about what the other companies were doing and potential areas for collaboration.
