The Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) in collaboration with the Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) organized a “Workshop on knowledge sharing of Sustainable Energy Challenge Fund (SECF) support mechanism for Solar PV Systems” on the 8th of June 2023 with the objectives to (i) disseminate the approach that SECF, with technical assistance of NREP, has followed to promote the uptake of Solar PV Systems and (ii) to understand the bottlenecks faced by the private sector for the development of Solar PV Systems.
The workshop comprised of remarks by Mr. Nawa Raj Dhakal, Executive Director, AEPC, Dr. Laxman Prasad Ghimire, Assistant Director, AEPC, Ms. Resha Piya, British Embassy Kathmandu, Mr. Suman Basnet, Team Leader, NREP, Mr. Prakash Bikram Basnet, President, SEMAN. The presentation on SECF Modalities & Project Highlights was done by Ms. Sunayna Tamrakar, Fund Manager, NREP and the very interactive discussion session was facilitated by Mr. Prem Sagar Subedi, Deputy Team Leader, NREP and Mr. Badri Nath Baral, Advisory Services Lead, NREP. The workshop was moderated by Mr. Sundar Bahadur Khadka, Senior Officer, AEPC.
The participants of the workshop included representatives of over 20 private sector organizations actively working in the solar sector in Nepal. After the remarks and presentation, the discussion session highlighted the gap in the understanding of the modalities of SECF windows by the private sector. After the discussions, the program successfully disseminated the modalities and approach of SECF that will help further expedite the uptake of Solar PV Systems throughout Nepal.
