Nepal Renewable Energy Programme (NREP) funded by DFID aims to support a competitive, lower cost and innovative market to drive growth of sustainable renewable energy supply and access through policy support and capacity development of wider stakeholders to increase governance, institutional capability and coordination within renewable energy (RE) sector. NREP will enable private sector and financial institutions as well as local governments to invest in sustainable RE business models through a challenge fund modality where the initial investment risk associated with the model will be covered by innovative financing mechanism called Sustainable Energy Challenge Fund (SECF).

NREP aims to attract and mobilize private sector investment on renewable energy projects including solar net-metering system for increasing energy security in the country.

In this context, NREP is planning to organize Provincial level Investor Forum to bring together policy makers, sub-national government, financial institutions, Renewable Energy Technology (RET) supplier companies/project developers and clients (industries, educational institutions, agriculture businesses, hotels etc.) for making match among them to commence business on solar net-metering systems to increase renewable electricity mix in total electricity supply of the country.

The objectives of Investor Forum are to:

1. Increase awareness on MoEWRI’s grid connected alternative energy working procedures 2017 and NEA’s net metering modality and procedure.
2. Increase awareness on AEPC’s solar net metering financial incentive mechanism.
3. Share NREP’s technical and financial assistance on solar net metering system.
   1. Sharing of existing business models and case studies
   2. Business Advisor function and SECF
4. Share financing solar net metering project and project bankability by financial institution.
5. Promote business by private technology suppliers/project developers.
6. Take stock of interested clients and project developers that want immediate next support for installing solar net metering systems.
